Mark D. Parman
Evaluation & Outcomes Measurement Specialist at Cherokee Nation
Indigenous leader Mark D. Parman offers a transformative perspective on leadership, drawing deeply from over 2,000 years of Cherokee history and culture. Mark presents a model of leadership rooted in Indigenous values: balance, reciprocity, and respect for all life. This approach challenges modern leadership paradigms, inviting readers to reconnect with their own “medicine,” or the unique gifts and strengths each person carries within them. Participants can expect a glimpse into Cherokee history and culture through 13,000-year-old Cherokee stories. Ancient ideas of leading will also be discussed, and how these ideas fit into today's modern world.
About the Speaker
Trained ecologist Mark D. Parman has been a program evaluator for the Cherokee Nation for two decades. He has authored American Evaluation Association (AEA) presentations on building Cherokee community organizations, Indigenous data visualization, and his new, yet ancient, leadership model.
