Which key principles of design and data visualization do you need to know to create effective and clear graphs? This talk will cover pre-attentive attributes, Gestalt principles, and principles of color use. It will provide the key concepts from design and data viz research that you need to know to communicate data effectively. The talk will include examples demonstrating application of the concepts and comparing effectiveness of different data viz approaches.
About the Speaker
Jenn Schilling loves data! Over the past 10 years, she’s worked with data as a statistician, engineer, and analyst in a number of fields. Jenn also has experience as a middle school teacher and adjunct faculty member. She founded Schilling Data Studio to share her knowledge of data visualization design, analyzing data, and R so more people can build skills in data analysis and visualization.
